A mysterious man in Manchester has started drawing images of penises around potholes in the road to encourage the council to do something about the problematic areas, which have been seemingly ignored.

The man refers to himself “Wanksy” given his phallic artwork and his anonymous status – referencing the famous street artist, Banksy.

Within 48-hours of the graffiti appearing, many of the potholes have been filled by the council in an effort to cover up the crude images.

Wanksy reported to the Manchester Evening News: “The roads of Manchester are in an appalling state, especially around Bury. I have cyclist friends who have been hospitalised. They damage vehicles. Sometimes it’s hard to know which pothole caused the damage because there are so many. When I’ve finished in Ramsbottom, I’ll move on to the rest of Manchester”.

Wansky reports that he uses a paint that eventually disappears within a week or two, but council members are less than impressed expressing its vulgarity and describing it as an insult to local residents.

Civic hero or council headache – Wanksy has brought much joy to many people around the world with his artwork.
