A masked man, referred to as “The Shadow”, is claimed to have rescued a City worker from a knife gang in South London, returned a stolen handbag, and broke up a street fight.

The first incident involved a man by the name of Ken who was walking through Martin’s Hill when a knife gang attempted to mug him.

Ken summed up the incident: “I thought I was quite literally done for. Then, out of nowhere, a man about 6ft tall, dressed in black combat-style trousers and a tight muscle top, and wearing a black bandana mask, came running towards them. He kicked the biggest of my attackers to the ground, which must have knocked the wind out of him. Then he grabbed one of the others and swung him into the other one, and pushed them both into a prickly hedge. They were both screaming in pain. It actually scared the life out of me – as I’m sure it did the young chaps who attempted to mug me.”

Two further people have now come forward, stating they also witnessed a masked man fighting crime in similar London areas.

One of these victims was a woman whose purse had been stolen from her just outside of the Lewisham DLR station. She described the shock of this being taken from her and how immediately afterwards a 30-something-year-old with a mask and a beard appeared from out of the darkness, tripped the mugger and returned her bag to her. She stated: “If I could give him a kiss to say thanks, I would be a happy girl”.

Another man claimed he saw the masked hero break up a fight amongst a group of men violently arguing over money. He stated, “He grabbed one of them, attacking him, and put some kind of ninja lock on him. He pushed him while twisting this geezer’s arm into the other fella.”

Does London have a real life superhero, we wonder? One can only hope!
